In choosing a location for the BAU-HOW production facility, we prioritized direct access to cargo facilities, a lot size that ensures the building of at least four production facilities, and access to competent and qualified employees and craftsmen. That’s why we chose the city of Ventspils in Latvia.
BAU-HOW’s first factory is approximately 18,000 m² and is a production line factory built around a 360 m long assembly line which we call the BAUS line. Along the BAUS line there are 20 profession-specific workshops and each workshop has its own material depot and an additional work and assembly station. The craftsmen who work at the factory are trained and tested in the work that they perform on the BAUS line. The factory employs around 250 employees and can, when it is fully operational, produce up to 160.000 m² buildings per year.
In optimizing our production, BAU-HOW has looked to LEAN Manufacturing, which in practice means that we diligently try to remove processes which do not add value to our products.
